Sofia Stefani finished her Master Thesis at the University of Fribourg (Department of Biology). Her research interests include the biogeography and conservation biology of the Alpine clematis (Clematis alpina, Ranunculaceae), the only liana growing at high altitudes in the Alps. The main goal of the project is to investigate its population genetics and phylogeography, as well as its ecological and climatic niche. This study will help the long-term conservation of this rare woody liana in the Cantons of Fribourg and Bern, and in the whole Alps.
